Genealogy of governance

Abstract

This essay analyzes the origins of the definition of governance and attempts to establish the lines of development and application of the concept itself. The dialectic between constitutionalism (view, interpretation, perspectives of the rules of the political-legal game) and governmentalism (attempt to simplify the complexity of contemporary democracies) underlies the theory of governance as a specific and imperfect form of government of (over) the economy.
