Two reflections on art and power

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between art and power, raising the question of how art is placed in the social environment as a mechanism not only for entertainment, but also for the elucidation of political and social conditions that permeate a given society. . From this perspective, art stands as an instrument through which social relations are clarified and, as such, encourages social transformation. On the other hand, the apprehension of art by capitalism, as yet another mechanism for achieving profits, dissipates this essence of art and establishes a tension between these two forces, so that, on the one hand, art, in its essence, can be verified, resisting capital and, on the other, capital cladding art with a product garment, precisely to make it more - and simply - a mechanism for making a profit.
